Private, online English tutoring from the comfort of home.
A range of tailored tutoring services for GCSE, 11+ and SATs training ages 6-18.
Introduction
My approach to teaching is to allow children to see subject content in as many different ways as possible to give children the opportunity to learn through doing and to provide plenty of practise. I believe teachers need to have a good understanding of the individual child to successfully teach. This will be done in the introductory lesson through a short and informal needs analysis test which will help align teacher-student goals.
I have a friendly and approachable personality which I hope will allow students to feel comfortable when making mistakes and can develop themselves in a zero judgement environment. My student-led approach allows teaching to match the pace of the students learning whilst meeting expectations through building children’s confidence using discussion and games.
With my close attention to in-school teaching, I can provide excellent supplementary tutoring with a strong focus on children’s specific needs. Teaching content can be chosen by students or through the GCSE board/National Curriculum guidelines.

About me
I have a degree in English Literature which has subjected me to a variety of texts, themes, and critical theory. This exposure to different texts helped facilitate a well-rounded understanding of literature which helps when teaching intertextual references. I have experience in poetry, critical thinking, world and historical literature, the gothic and American classics.
I have achieved a PGCE with QTS in primary education which has allowed me to become familiar with learner-focused pedagogy and other approaches which allow children to build and develop skills through meaningful interactions in and out of the classroom by bringing context to learning through discussion and engaging activities.
I have experience with teaching and planning to the National Curriculum and have developed an in-depth understanding of the expectations and targets for the different year groups. I have gained experience with working in schools, teaching/planning lessons and administrating teaching assistants and providing specific methods and adapted work. I have a good understanding for creating a variety of tailored resources for children such as children with SEND (special educational needs and difficulties), EAL (English as an additional language) or any child that requires further support.
